It has been 4 years to the day we bottled our Inaugural release back in 2021. Since then we have had multiple, limited, single casks releases, from our Orange Wine cask to Manzanilla and several in-between. With a variety of award winning gins and liqueurs along the way whilst the casks matured, It’s been an incredible journey so far.
Aber Falls Distillery, the first whisky distillery in North Wales for over 100 years, located between the foothills of Snowdonia and the banks of the Menai Strait in the village of Abergwyngregyn. The distillery was commissioned in late 2017 and production begun in early 2018, filling 9 casks a week with only two distillery operators and a distillery manager. By now, we are now a team of 14, doing 28 distillations, filling 80-90 casks a week, championing sustainable production whilst paving the way to a net zero future. This growth in production proves the demand for Single Malt Welsh Whisky is increasing as a new category. The PGI (Protected Geographical indication) status that launched in 2023 has added not only added authenticity, but quality assurance and gives Welsh whisky a cultural identity, a category that we are proud to be a part of.
After a lot of hard work and determination, it is now time for us to launch our second ongoing release that will sit alongside our flagship red label. We are thrilled to present to you the newest addition to our whisky portfolio with an elegant new look, our Aber Falls Madeira Single Malt Welsh Whisky. Bottled at a 47% ABV, non-chill filtered and a natural colour. Matured in virgin oak casks and finished in carefully selected Madeira casks, this whisky offers a balance of sweetness, depth, and complexity. On the nose, Peaches and apricots with honey and caramelized sugar and a slight citrus zest with floral hints. Sweet but slightly dry on the palate, honeyed fruitiness with notes of stewed apples or pears, roasted nuts and a hint of marzipan, with a medium to long finish, balanced by fruity warmth.
