Cask Sales
Aber Falls Distillery commenced production in December 2017, and has filled over 9000 casks to date. The first bottles of single malt whisky was released in May 2021. To celebrate this we would like to extend an invitation to members of the public to lay down their very own cask of whisky. A limited number of casks will be set aside for members of the public to purchase on a first come first served basis at a price of £2,500.
CASKS
These casks are 200 litre American Virgin Oak casks and will be filled with new make spirit at 63.4% ABV. Spirit naturally evaporates reducing the volume and ABV over time, in a process known as the angels share. This varies depending on a number of factors including weather and individual cask. Under European law, Welsh whisky must be matured for a minimum of 3 years and 1 day, in a bonded warehouse. All storage and insurance costs for three years are included in the cost. Owners of the casks will receive a commemorative certificate bearing their cask number and details. Owners will also be invited to visit and tour the distillery.

FAQ
Faint o boteli y gallaf ddisgwyl eu derbyn?
This will vary depending on what ABV you decide to bottle at, when you decide to bottle it, and losses due to the angels share etc… The legal minimum for Welsh whisky is 40% abv. You could choose to bottle at cask strength, but we recommend bottling at 46%. As a guide, a 200 litre bourbon cask after 3 years maturation would yield around 400 x 70cl bottles but every cask is different. The longer it matures the fewer the bottles but the better the whisky!
Ydy'r gost yn cynnwys potelu?
The cost of bottling is not included as this will very much depend on when the whisky is bottled. Individuals are free to choose their own bottles or decanters and labels but will not be permitted to use the distillery name on their label.
Pa gostau eraill sydd dan sylw?
VAT is not charged on the cask purchase. When the cask is bottled, government excise duty and VAT will apply at the prevailing rates. These will vary depending on whether the whisky is being kept in the UK or exported.
